In recent years we have been exploring curriculum ideas in the competitive area, working to develop DVD materials that we have compiled in what we call The California Suite.  These DVD demystify the coaching of California-specific events and featuring our students, speaking articulately about the events that they love and the areas in which they excel.  We have interviewed successful coaches, written voiceover that organizes instruction, and reached out to the professional film industry to give polish to our endeavors.

  Complimentary copies of the Impromptu DVD will be distributed at the State Tournament in April 2013 to all 2011-2012 CHSAA members that paid their dues by December 1, 2011.  Copies will be available for $20 to all other member schools that did not meet the December 1st deadline.

Letter From CHSSA Regarding Instructional Videos

Dear CHSSA Coach:

The California High School Speech Association is pleased to provide a copy of our Thematic and Oratorical Interpretation instructional DVD’s as an educational resource.  Please remember that these DVD’s are to be used for archival purposes only; meant to be used as an educational resource.  As a licensee with CHSSA, you are not to show, loan, or distribute these DVD’s in any way to non-CHSSA members such as schools, students, parents, or administrators.  In addition, the public exhibition of these DVD’s including, but not limited to, public meetings, gatherings, and television or cable broadcasts is strictly prohibited.  The selling, renting, or showing of the performances for any monetary value or consideration is also prohibited.  These DVD are meant for the following circumstances:  classroom showing as part of a regularly scheduled curricular class in Speech, English, Forensics or Debate in CHSSA member schools only, classroom showing as part of school-sponsored CHSSA school meetings, practice sessions or tournaments, classroom showing to school district administrators, teachers, school board members, or parents of CHSSA member schools.  In no event shall CHSSA be liable for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages in any way relating to the use, or arising out of the use, of the DVD’s.  In order to receive your DVD’s, please fill out the accompanying Licensing Agreement for each DVD you are requesting, providing the appropriate information and authorized signatures and attach to your assessment form.  The cost is $20 per DVD to cover the distribution costs.  The cost for the entire California Suite is $150.

Upon the receipt of the properly signed form and a check to cover distribution costs, you will receive your DVD’s.
