We are very proud of the materials that we have been able to create for our members!
Our goal has been to create curriculum that is meaningful and helpful in the Public Speaking classroom and the competitive forensic community.
These are wonderful materials that you can adapt from this website. May you have many successes this year and enjoy your membership in the California High School Speech Association!
2013 CHSSA Curriculum Committee Survey
At this year’s State Tournament, the CHSSA Curriculum Committee supplied coaches with a survey in hopes of narrowing down the potential Curriculum projects slated for 2013-2014. 84 CHSSA coaches who attended the State Tournament participated in the survey. Coaches were allotted 2 votes each, and these were the results:
Plan, film and distribute a Judges Training DVD for each league
Plan, film and distribute a Parliamentary Debate instructional DVD
Devise a 9-week Speech course with Common Core lessons and rubrics
Provide Common Core in-service training and materials by our experts for your school or your English Department with speaking and listening ideas, lesson plans and rubrics
Revise Speaking Across the Curriculum with lesson plans and rubrics that dovetail with Common Core standards
Other (suggestions written in)
Policy Debate DVD – 2
Public Forum DVD – 1
The Curriculum Committee will consider these results in determining the focus of our upcoming projects.
